How the grandparent scam works
Judy Attig told 60 Minutes about how she handed over $7,600 to a man posing as courier after a call claiming that her grandson had been in an accident and needed the money to get out of jail—and then the fraudsters called hoping for an additional $17,000, but that was after a bank teller alerted her that these scams are on the rise.

A bargain she didn’t go for
